       Welcome To HuntTheNorth.com's
       Alaska Big Game Hunting Section

At HuntTheNorth.com we have been actively researching many of the top hunting guides and outfitters across the country since 2003. We have then hand picked a very select few of what we feel are “Quality Outfitters” in each state to endorse through our service. We have endorsed one specific Alaska big game hunting outfitter. Below is a detailed listing on the outfitter of our choice for you to review and contact. Enjoy reading why we have decided to endorse the following Alaska brown bear hunting outfitter.

HUNTTHENORTH.COM ENDORSED OUTFITTER

SPECIALIZING IN WORLD CLASS ALASKAN BROWN BEAR HUNTS

Outfitters: The Randalls

About The Outfitter:

The Randall family have lived in the NE Afognak Island wilderness (2nd largest of the Kodiak Islands group, Alaska) since the 1960’s. Originally, they hunted seal & trapped then evolved into a wilderness lodge by Spring ’74 catering to hunters, fishermen & photographers. Their true-wilderness retreat has since delighted adventurous vacationers with many repeat & referred international guests due to the wide array of land / sea mammals, outstanding fresh / saltwater fishing and pristine forest & fjord setting. Their

elegantly rustic log lodge and guest-cabin comforts, with indoor plumbing & 24 hour power, are 25 floatplane minutes from the town of Kodiak where guests land in a peaceful protected cove and are nourished with superb home-cooking, surrounded by an “enchanted forest”.

Our Philosophy:

Fair-chase hunting is the standard for Alaska. We hunt from comfortable cabin-cruisers along the rugged shoreline within the coastal Afognak Island State Park.

FEATURED HUNTS:
Alaskan Brown Bear Hunts

During the past 37 years, we have maintained a 90% success-rate with a good number of repeat & referred hunters who thrive on the adventure and comforts, by day & night. Your eagle-eye guides, who've lived in the heart of this lush wilderness year-round for the past 2 - 4 decades, know every nook & cranny. They've provided many a thrilling hunt for both rifle and bow hunters, with many repeat & referred hunters who barely need an excuse to return.  We provide the experience of nearly 4 decades and a 90% success rate on north Afognak Island. For foreign hunters, we provide gratis rifles during your hunt to avoid customs and airlines hassle. We take no more than 2 bear hunters at once, each with a separate guide & cabin-cruiser. There are 4 Spring & 3 Fall- 10-day guided hunts available each year.

A Typical Day:

You’re out hunting by day-break, via comfortable cabin-cruisers, around the convoluted forested & fjord coast-line. When a good bear is spotted, hunters discretely skiff ashore where there are healthy populations of all big game species. A packed lunch is taken hunting but otherwise, hunters eat and sleep at the cozy lodge.

ALSO OFFERING: Sitka Blacktailed Deer Hunts

Our able-bodied hunters have had 100% success on our Sitka Blacktail Deer Hunts- with several record-book entries. The Sitka Blacktail Deer are native to the wet, coastal rain forests of S.E. Alaska but were transplanted to Kodiak & Afognak Islands circa 1930. They are smaller & stockier with a shorter face than other members of the black-tail group. Typical bucks range from 120# to 220#. Normal antler development is 3-4 points/side with very few scoring more than 110 points in Boone & Crockett record book. With the first heavy frost, many deer in the high alpine and sub-alpine descend to the upper forests. With snowfall, usually in November & December, they move down to the coastal fringe and beaches. Rut occurs during late November.

Lodging And Meals:

Our lodging consists of three husky hand-hewn log guest-cabins which are very comfortably furnished. Each cushy guest-cabin has an ample living-room, 2 bedrooms (each with a queen & twin-size bed), a modern bathroom with hot running water and constant electricity- - -sure beats a leaky tent. Also, a sauna is a welcome option at days end. Your hosts did all the construction from scratch.

Our meals include hearty home-style cuisine including local sea foods / game-meats, fresh fruits / vegetables and baked goods around a large table, overlooking a protected cove.  Packed lunches are available while out hunting.
