Lake Of The Woods immense size and wilderness setting is truly incredible. Thousands of islands dot its wide expanse providing a unique and memorable fishing experience. With our abundant food sources and wildlife management, it is clear why our muskies, northern pike, bass, walleye and lake trout can grow to extremely large sizes. Whitefish Bay is noted for beautifully colored trophy muskie & walleye while being the best fishery for lake trout in the entire Lake of the Woods. The average size of muskies caught are 48” and bass of 20 -22” are not unheard of. If you have never experienced what it is like to have a huge powerful muskie on the end of your line, there is nothing else like it and should be experienced by every fisherman!
A Typical Day:
After a great night’s sleep and a hardy breakfast, each morning your rented boat will be gassed and charged or your private boat is waiting to take you to the “hot spots” we will share with you. If you are fishing with one of our professional Ontario Fishing Guides, everything will be ready for a great day on the water. Any time your lure is in the water a trophy or tasty meal is waiting. Take a break for a relaxing lunch at a shore-lunch spot and enjoy the scenery and wildlife or head back to your cabin. Our staff will meet you on the dock when you return from your day of fishing ready to hear about your adventure! Kick back on the screen porch and perhaps enjoy a refreshing drink before dinner. At sunset enjoy the loons and possibly plan for a campfire in your fire ring. After another good night’s sleep and it all starts again!
Fishing Gunisao Lake
Along with the most Master Angler Walleyes, we have some of the biggest; ranking among the top ten largest fish caught in Manitoba each year. Gunisao Lake has more than DOUBLED any other lake in Manitoba for the number of Master Anglers caught for over 10 years in a row. In addition to the world-class walleye fishing, don't be surprised if you tie into some Master Angler Northern Pike as well. 100 fish a day per boat is the norm, not the exception at Gunisao. Located 250 miles north of Winnipeg, Gunisao is a pine tree lined, pristine lake. The lake stretches 16 miles, with several islands to ensure safe fishing in all weather conditions. Budd’s Gunisao Lake Lodge is the only lodge on the lake, giving you get a remote destination with all the comforts of home. The accommodations are excellent, and the food is delicious.
Lodging And Meals
The rustic secluded setting on our island in the Lake Of The Woods offers eight cottages available in various locations around the camp, sleeping anywhere from 1-11 guests. Each cottage is complete with modern facilities for your comfort and enjoyment. Meals consist of your choice of either making some or all of your meals in the cabin kitchen, or you can join us in the lodge for a fantastic home cooked meal.

About The Outfitter
Whitefish Bay Camp’s origin dates back to the late 1920’s and has been operating ever since. The original owner, Ernie Calvert, established numerous camps in this area of Ontario and we believe that this is one of two that exist today. The current owners / managers Bob & Peg Hunger have 38 years of experience in the hospitality business, 17 of which have been at The Whitefish Bay Camp. Our guests benefit from our years of experience with the personal touch to hospitality.
