 | About The Outfitter: Founder and outfitter Chuck Ellingson has grown up in western, MN and has been hunting the Lac Qui Parle area with his dad since he was able to carry a gun. A few years back Chuck inherited his grand parents farm. At that point Chuck started guiding in the area and built a lodge, now located on the north side of the Lac Qui Parle Refuge. Chuck also made a significant purchase of land inside the refuge boundaries where his new lodge now sits on top of the north hill overlooking the Lac Qui Parle Refuge. Chuck has a |

Our Philosophy: We strive to meet and exceed our customer’s needs and expectations by offering a full service hunting facility. Whether you are looking for a fully guided Canada goose hunt around the Laq Qui Parle Refuge, a big water duck hunt on one of the area’s reservoirs to a fully guided wild bird pheasant hunt, we can accommodate your needs. We also offer combo hunts with a morning Canada goose hunt / afternoon pheasant hunt. To add to that we do offer a preserve pheasant hunt as well, for corporate groups or individual hunters. We also offer shotgun deer hunts in November as well as a full service lodge with private rooms and an on-site full service bar with a meal plan available. Guided Canada Goose / Pheasant Combo Hunt
At The Watson Hunting camp we specialize in a fully guided morning Canada goose hunt / afternoon pheasant hunt. Our hunts take place near the Laq Qui Parle Refuge. This IS NOT a “drop you off near a snow fence” pass shooting goose hunt. Outfitter Chuck Ellingson uses top of the line decoys and layout blinds to offer a true “in your face” decoying experience. When the refuge is full, our customers usually have ample opportunity at taking a limit of 2 geese per day.
For our upland bird hunt we have the option of an all wild bird pheasant hunt on our 800+ acres of private ground, or if your group would rather a more relaxing hunt, we can offer a preserve pheasant hunt with no daily limits- its your hunt and your call. We have our own professionally trained retrievers and pointers or you can bring your own dogs. | |

A Typical Day:
We will be on the road well before sunrise to get a fresh decoy spread set for your group that day. Trust that you will be hunting a field that had live geese feeding in it the night before, to ensure your success. After the morning hunt and a quick lunch it’s off to the pheasant fields for an afternoon of chasing wild roosters through the western Minnesota prairies. However for those looking for a more relaxing style hunt, we do offer a preserve to hunt with unlimited birds, if that is what you and your group would enjoy more. After the hunt we will head back to the lodge where we can have a meal plan ready for your group or you can relax at the bar for a few cocktails before heading back into town for a restaurant meal of your choice. Your dogs are also more than welcome inside the lodge at night to re-coop after a hard day in the field. Our goal is to make your hunt a success in every aspect of the trip. | |

ALSO OFFERING: Big Water Duck Hunts:
At The Watson Hunting Camp we also offer big water duck hunts. We have access to several of the largest bodies of water in western Minnesota including the infamous Marsh Lake and Lac Qui Parle Lake, both of which draw thousands of Mallards and Divers each fall. With equipment such as a 17 foot enclosed boat blind, which comes fully equipped with heaters and breakfast facilities when those late morning hungers strike, this is a classic Minnesota duck hunt over large spreads of decoys. Lodging And Meals:
Our lodging accommodations are available on a per night basis, but are included in most of our fully guided hunt packages. However Do It Yourself hunters also have the option of staying at the lodge and doing their own hunting. Prices listed are per room based upon double occupancy. Per night lodging reservations include continental breakfast only. The new main lodge sleeps up to sixteen hunters comfortably. We have all modern kitchen appliances, bath house with sauna and a great room with satellite TV as well as an on-site bar / lounge.
Our renovated barn, the new lodge, is also available to host corporate and group outings. It's a fully heated and insulated building with a full bar and tables. It offers a great place to gather and wind down after the hunt is complete.
Included in the our lodging is a continental breakfast and we can have a meal plan catered in to meet you and your groups needs or you can head into town for a wide variety of local restaurants. Again we also offer a full service cash bar on-site for your convenience. |
