We lease the hunting rights on several private ranches as well as being the only permitted outfitter on large areas of the BLM and Custer National Forest. Giving us exclusive access to some of the best hunting land available in Montana! By also limiting the number of hunters in camp each week to only two during the archery season and six during the rifle season, we have more than enough ground to find the trophy mule deer or whitetail that you are looking for. Just bring your personal gear, shooting equipment, license, clothing, and we will take care of the rest! | |

A Typical Day:
After a hearty breakfast in camp we will either head to our tree stands, ground blinds or start glassing local agricultural areas from elevated points to spot animals moving to and from feeding and bedding areas in the morning and evening. The remainder of the day is spent still hunting, spot and stalking, making organized drives, and rattling and calling. The length of the average shot will be from 150 to 250 yards with every attempt to find a solid rest. After a great day of Montana hunting we will come back to our camp for another great meal, relax, and get prepared for the next day! When you harvest your Montana deer we will take every measure to ensure that it is field dressed and cared for properly for you to get it home and up on the wall! With our vast hunting grounds and wide variety of wildlife, we have the ability hunt some of the biggest antelope and elk there are in North America! Hunting for antelope is almost purely spot and stalk with an excellent chance of taking one of the most beautiful and exotic animals in Montana. This hunt is perfect for a man/wife, father/son or daughter as it is not unusual to see over 100 antelope per day insuring nonstop action and hunting excitement.

Lodging And Meals Our Mill Iron Camp, which is our home base camp, is located 20 miles southeast of Ekalaka, Mt. Here we lease the hunting rights on several private ranches consisting of approximately 50,000 acres. We are also the only permitted outfitter on approximately 60,000 acres of National Forest land. Accommodations include a cordwood cabin with propane heat, shower and bath. Hearty, healthy breakfasts and suppers are served family style in the dining room with lunches eaten in the field. The Mill Iron area habitat consists of ponderosa pine timbered hills, grasslands, grain and alfalfa fields, and creek bottoms. It is not uncommon to see two, three, or even all four big game species feeding in the same field! We are excited to offer our new camp for 2012 which we are calling the "Tie Creek Camp". This camp is approximately 35 miles southeast of Ekalaka and includes thousands of acres of prime big game habitat, much of which has been only lightly hunted for many years. Accommodations include a spacious ranch house with all the amenities of home. Breakfasts and suppers are served in the house with lunches eaten in the field. Depending on the time of year and or group size we operate one or two guides for two to four hunters at a time. |

J&J Guide Service is owned and operated by folks who "live to hunt" and we are committed to providing our customers with an enjoyable experience that offers fantastic opportunities for hunting success. Our hunts will provide you with excellent memories that will last a lifetime, or keep you coming back year after year. Owners Rich Schneider and Rick Wilund are avid, experienced hunters and outdoorsmen, who have been hunting big game for more than 40 years and who have been sharing successful hunting adventures together since they became friends over 20 years ago.

 | Their own hunting experiences have taken them to Iowa, Manitoba, Ontario, Montana, Idaho, New Mexico, and Wisconsin. Wanting a life change they decided to pursue their love for hunting and the outdoors by started their own business called, Living the Dream Outdoors, LLC and then purchased J&J Guide Service in the summer of 2012 from longtime owners Jamie and Juanita Byrne. They have agreed to stay on to assist the new owners for several years to ensure a smooth and successful transition. Moving forward, J&J Guide Service will continue to operate with the same ethical and moral standards that have been followed by the Byrne family since 1978. |
