Archery Elk / Deer Combo Hunts
We operate our Montana guided elk hunts and deer in three separate locations; the Cascade Ranch, the West Butte Ranch and the Lewis & Clark National Forest (near East Glacier Park). Our archery elk / deer combo hunts are World Class. We offer opportunity at trophy caliber bulls and exceptional deer on both ranches. Last season we took 7 archery bucks, all of which will qualify for the Pope & Young record book. Shot opportunities on elk are normally are around 80%. Our largest bull measured in at 370 inches (P & Y). Some elk hunters have had bulls within bow range every day. Although the West Butte Ranch is showing us larger herd bulls in recent years, the Cascade Ranch still has the biggest bulls. The deer / elk archery combo hunt at the West Butte Ranch still remains our most popular hunt.

A Typical Day:
Every day varies depending on different types of guided hunts and the location of each Montana hunt. But typical of most hunts is this: Up well before light. A hearty breakfast is typical. Most Montana elk hunting and deer hunting situations require an early hike to a vantage point. We glass for hours a day sometimes. Some days we carry a lunch and hunt elk and deer all day. Other times we go back to camp and eat a lunch and go back out for an afternoon / evening elk hunt or deer hunt. Most hunters will have ample opportunity to harvest the animal they desire during their Montana elk hunt or deer hunt with Northern Rockies Outfitters. | |

ALSO OFFERING: Whitetail & Mule Deer Hunts
We offer guided hunt packages for both mule deer and whitetails. The West Butte Ranch is a large mountain property bordering Alberta, Canada. The country is steep, rugged, and roadless, making it ideal for elk and deer, but tough physically. This property is known for its big mule deer bucks and huge whitetails. We also offer Montana elk hunting and antelope hunting here. The terrain on this ranch is ideal for bow hunting, whether its spot-and-stalk mule deer, or tree stand whitetail deer hunting. | |

Lodging And Meals:
We stay in cabins that are very comfortable and we also have a main lodge where we have our meals. We put an emphasis on great food. |

 | About The Outfitter:
Outfitter Rich Birdsell has been guiding Montana elk hunts since 1992, the year after he graduated from the University of Montana. In 1995 he started Northern Rockies Outfitters, Ltd. Rich runs a two season operation, fishing in the summer and hunting in the fall. Rich is also the fly fishing host of a syndicated television show called Columbia Country. In the winter months, Rich attends a few sport shows and is a seminar speaker. Rich and his wife Marcy, have two children, Madison (10) and Jackson (7). They make their home on the Flathead River near Kalispell.
