The Montana Smith River Fly Fishing Canyon Float in the Lewis & Clark Nat’l Forest is 59 miles of the most pristine waters a trout nut could ever hope to find.  The limestone formations erupting from one side of the river and the lush meadows and forest on the other displays the unique beauty of this trip.  Each bend in the river raises the bar as we redefine your definition of “God’s Country” on our journey down the Smith River.  Upon examination of the entomology of this river (as we often do), one can understand why it supports such great numbers of healthy trout.  A Multitude of hatches makes the Smith a great dry fly river, but do to the fact that the Smith is a natural freestone river (no dams) it is on Mother Nature’s schedule for the run-off and high water.  Fear not though, as we pride ourselves in the fact that even in some of the highest off color water these trout are not safe from our fishermen.

A Typical Day:

As the sun wakes the canyon, you’re senses come to life; Geese flying up the river, the smell of the morning camp fire, and the spectacular canyon as the river cuts through it. After breakfast, you will accompany your Montana fly fishing guides down the canyon, fishing and enjoying the most magnificent place in all of Montana.  As the air cools and the shadows invade the canyon we arrive at another great pre-set camp site, set up by our crew that morning. After we are settled you may get comfortable with a cocktail and hors d'oeuvres before another excellent meal.  As the evening sun brightens colors of the limestone canyon walls, find a seat by the fire and contemplate the beauty of the Smith River. Montana Trophy Elk Hunts:

Hunting high in the Beaverhead National Forest back country is a true wilderness experience! As we ride horseback to camp, one can understand why so many elk call the Wall Creek area home. The habitat is perfect for these animals, with large meadows connecting timbered drainages and mountains. We benefit greatly, with bull to cow ratios notably higher in this area. It's not uncommon to see herds of a hundred or more elk at a time and we anticipate daily encounters with elk. We boast a comfortable wall tent camp at 8,900 feet, with cots and pads, and great cooking with truly amazing views. This is without a doubt one of the most rewarding and exciting hunts that North America has to offer!
