Welcome To HuntTheNorth.com's Nebraska Waterfowl Hunting Section |
|
| At HuntTheNorth.com we have been actively researching many of the top hunting guides and outfitters across the country since 2003. We have then hand picked a very select few of what we feel are “Quality Outfitters” in each state to endorse through our service. We have endorsed one specific outfitter in Nebraska for the waterfowl hunting season. Below is a detailed listing on the outfitter of our choice for you to review and contact. Enjoy reading why we have decided to endorse the following Nebraska waterfowl hunting outfitter.
Sincerely,
Dan Wennerlind President HuntTheNorth.com |

SPECIALIZING IN MALLARDS AND CANADAS ON THE NORTH PLATTE
|
|
| About The Outfitter: Hello…my name is Jason Randolph (most folks call me JJ). I have been guiding professionally for 20 years. I grew up hunting ducks and geese on the Platte River in Nebraska and the Missouri River on the Nebraska/South Dakota border. Growing up I was privileged to hunt with some of the finest waterfowlers in the Midwest. From them I learned the nuances of world class calling and great dog work. My operation is currently based out of Torrington, Wyoming, on the famed North Platte River. We hunt in both |
| Western Nebraska and Eastern Wyoming. I have the finest field and river locations in the area. Our goose fields are farmed and managed for Canada goose hunting. I can assure you of a hunting experience of a lifetime. |
|
Our Philosophy: My hunting philosophy is founded in a deep respect for the waterfowl resource and client comfort. If you are moved by the sight of flocks of mallards and Canadas breaking to the call and decoying to close range; if you appreciate dogs who are steady to shot and mark and retrieve the long sailing bird; if you appreciate comfortable, heated and well concealed blinds and field pits then Wyo-Braska Waterfowl should be your first and only choice. We are not about whack ‘em and stack ‘em hunts. However, a high percentage of my guided hunts result in legal limits of waterfowl. |

FEATURED HUNTS:
|
Nebraska Platte River Waterfowl Hunts A Typical Fall Hunt:
I suggest that my clients arrive the evening before their hunt. I meet them at their motel or at a local lodge. That evening we make sure everyone has their proper licenses, stamps and permits. Because I have spent several hours scouting earlier in the day, I will tell them where we are going to hunt in the morning.
In the morning we meet at a local café for breakfast at 5:00 AM. The café is the choice of many local ranchers and townspeople. You will hear conversations on everything from the local waterfowl situation to the price of corn to the state of the national political scene. From the café we will head to our hunting location.
|
The blinds are heated and feature a sliding lid system that allows hunters to watch the action as the birds decoy and are a breeze from which to shoot. The birds respond to the call and fall into our spread of mallard and Canada decoys. The first bunch of the morning results in a mallard that sails across the river and into the woods. My black lab, Danni, has the bird marked. She sits steady as a rock until I call her name. On her name she launches off the bank into the freezing water and charges through the current and up the far bank. She disappears into the woods and returns to the bank one minute later with the greenhead. She heels to my side and delivers the bird to hand. A great start to another magnificent day on the North Platte.
|
ALSO OFFERING: Nebraska Spring Snows A Typical Day In the morning we meet at a local restaurant for breakfast. We decide if we are going to hunt one of our water spreads of if we are going to go a field spread. Our field decoys are all new full body snow and blue goose decoys along with the latest in motion technology. Our water spreads feature full body snow and blue floaters along with juveniles of both phases. We hunt over the finest decoy spreads available, period. And our electronic calling systems are also simply the best. We want your days in the field with us to be a lasting memory for everyone. We unload gear at our heated well concealed blind. The anticipation of hearing the first sounds of migrating geese is one of waterfowl hunting’s great moments. And then we hear them. Here they come! From horizon to horizon geese are on the wing. Soon we are engulfed in a tornado of spiraling snow geese. Another perfect waterfowl day is about to unfold!

Lodging And Meals:
There are numerous lodging choices in the Torrington, Wyoming area. My primary recommended lodging choice is operated by Bret and Candy Van Rennselaer. The Lodge is located 4 miles west of Torrington on the North Platte River. Geese and ducks frequent the fields around the Lodge. The Lodge accommodates up to 10 hunters with private bedrooms, a full kitchen and satellite High Definition TV. The Lodge also has kennels for your dogs. I can give you info on availability. I also recommend the Holiday Inn Express (307-532-7600) and Grammas Inn. Reservations for Grammas Inn are booked through the Frontier Mart (307-532-1171). There is also a Days Inn nearby if needed.
Meals are also on your own and there are many restaurants in the Torrington area; including two very good steak houses. |
|
Hunting Rates And Packages:
All of my guided hunts are $250.00 per day, per hunter. We currently offer fall waterfowl hunts in western Nebraska, eastern Wyoming and spring snow goose hunts in south eastern Nebraska. This rate is the same for all three hunts and does not include your meals or lodging. I also spend considerable time each evening scouting my various fields to determine where we should hunt each morning. Your retrievers are more than welcome to join us on the hunt but they MUST have good blind manners. Let's spend some time in the blind together! |
