Quebec Caribou Hunting
Located far from the reaches of civilization in the heart of the vast and rugged tundra of northern Quebec, Jack Hume Adventures has been in the business of providing world-class guided Caribou hunts for four decades. With access to more than 30 hunting camps, we strictly book only five camps per week, with a maximum of six hunters per camp. This leaves us with an excellent ratio of spare camps. We employ additional guides who are equipped with the skills and technology necessary to scout all areas during the world famous Leaf River migration of over 400,000 caribou.
Our reputation for success and satisfied clients allows for our 80% client return rate with some hunters having been with us on as many 16 hunts over the years. If you are looking for the best possible Quebec Caribou Hunting Experience from logistics, to lodging and meals, to an overall opportunity of a successful caribou hunt in the tundra of northern Quebec, look no further than Jack Hume Adventures.
A Typical Day:
Each day of your guided caribou hunt, you would wake up in the morning and enjoy a hearty breakfast prepared for you by your camp cook and then take a packed lunch out in the field with you. Anyone wishing to come back to camp to warm up or to have a hot lunch certainly has that option but we recommend that you make the most of your Quebec Caribou Hunting experience and stay in the field hunting throughout most of the day. You would travel so far by boat and then travel by foot to the caribou hunting area. Generally speaking the terrain is flat with small rolling hills and the odd eskers. Expect to use "spot and stalk" hunting techniques to take advantage of terrain and wind conditions. In the evening, normally just a short while before darkness settles in your caribou hunting guide would transport you back to camp from the area you are set up to hunt and you would then be served a hot dinner and deserts along with coffee, tea or juices before bed.
ALSO OFFERING: Black Bear and Ptarmigan Hunting - As Well As Some of the World's Best Fishing!
Spend 6 days at one of our 30+ Quebec caribou hunting camps with the opportunity to harvest caribou, black bear and ptarmigan , as well as test your angling skills on pristine lakes and rivers that abound with trophy lake trout, brook trout, northern pike, and landlocked arctic char. The scenery alone is breathtaking. We look forward to meeting and exceeding your highest expectations on this once in a lifetime Quebec big game hunting experience!
Lodging & Meals
On your Quebec caribou hunting adventure you will be lodged in small framed cabins with plywood exterior shell. The cabins are either heated with wood, oil or propane and are equipped with single or bunk beds layered with a 4” foam mattress. We have over 30 camps and most are equipped with running hot and cold water along with flush toilets but some others that are used primarily to lodge our 1x6 outpost hunters are a little more primitive and may be equipped with outhouses and a shower stall that requires heating the water before actually taking a shower but all are dry and comfortable and a big step from having to stay in a tent! Keeping in mind some of our camps are nearly 1,000 miles from Montreal and hundreds of miles from the nearest roads and so everything has had to be flown in by float plane!
Meals consist of eggs and bacon / sausage, pancakes and / or french toast, hot or cold cereals for breakfast. Lunch would normally consist of a couple sandwiches made with a choice of lunch meats and or eggs salad along with a desert, fruit and box of juice. Supper consists of roast beef, spaghetti, ham and scallop potatoes, roast pork, chicken dinner and stew accompanied by home made breads and / or buns and a fresh desert.

About The Outfitter:
Richard Hume was groomed to do the job he is doing and would not change a thing. At the age of 12 years (1981) he had already started accompanying his father, Jack Hume, to Nunavik and has spent every season since 1981 helping with the chores of running the familly business. Having obtained his pilot license at 17 years of age he has been flying throughout Nunavik for the past 25 years, allowing him to become a well
|seasoned bush plane pilot. These skills are a necessity when keeping a close watch over the ever changing caribou migrations. He is always able to choose some of the best territories to operate from and consistently maintains a very high rate of success. |
Richard's wife, Amanda works by his side as a devoted business partner, managing the daily business operations, allowing him the time required in the seat of the float plane in order to ensure we are at the right place at the right time. Richard and Amanda do their very best to provide clients with a most memorable trip and always hope they will consider returning to this remarkable place where caribou roam and trout abound. The sub arctic tundra of Nunavik. Truly a sportsman's paradise!
