WELCOME TO LAST FRONTIER SNOW GOOSE SAFARIS

At Last Frontier Snow Goose Safaris We offer fully guided spring snow goose hunts across the Midwest.  We start out in northwest Missouri and southern Iowa when the snow geese start leaving Squaw Creek, Missouri and follow the birds up through the Rainwater Basin of Nebraska and north to Aberdeen, South Dakota.  Therefore, depending on what month of the spring you want to hunt and which state you wish to hunt, we can accommodate most any need. We offer Missouri Snow Goose Hunting, Iowa Snow Goose Hunting, Nebraska Snow Goose Hunting and South Dakota Snow Goose Hunting options.  Our mobility also assures you that we will be in the heart of the migration during your hunt and you will not have to hear about how you should have been here last week like many other outfitters must do, that are stuck in one area.

Outfitter Jason Lesmeister has been a Full Time Licensed and Insured Guide for over 10 years.  Jason's patience and attention to detail have helped him become a very successful outfitter.  Jason works very hard to assure that you will be hunting over the best snow goose spread and equipment on the market.  Jason also uses his hunting expertise to gain the edge over these very wary and pressured birds. Jason and his crew know exactly what is takes to be successful day in and day out and will do everything that is necessary to make sure that you have a Fun, Safe and Successful Snow Goose Hunting Experience!

Our Set-Up:

Here is what you can expect on your guided spring snow goose hunt- Your hunt will start at sunrise and run until dark, this is a full days hunt.  We will be taking a mid afternoon break around 11:30 am for lunch and a quick nap.  Don’t worry about missing out on your hunt during that time period as the majority of the birds are back on the roost.  Since we are up at 3:00 am each morning setting up for the days hunt and picking up after dark, a mid day siesta is a much needed break to keep your guide in good spirits. Unlike most outfitters we will be moving our spreads frequently and you will most likely be hunting different fields each day of your hunt, unless we continue to have excellent success for a short period of a couple days in the same field.  You will be hunting over 1,000- 1,500 custom windsock snow goose decoys and blue goose decoys.  We also use the best snow goose decoy movement systems on the market as well as high quality E-Caller snow goose calling systems.  Since our mobility is our greatest asset, you will be hunting out of the best lay out blinds on the market and we strive to put thousands of decoying snow geese overhead daily.  You can expect to see thousands and thousands of birds during each day of your hunt and they will be working our spread.  But: We make sure to tell every hunter before they book that there are No Guarantees in this sport!  These wary spring snow goose that have been hunted 9 months out of the year and they are very hard to decoy no matter how hard you work and what size your spread is.  We will do everything in our power to get the birds with in 30 yards but you can expect to take shots up to 60 yards.  Be assured that they are killable at that range as they will be hanging right above you with their wings set.  Weather plays a huge role in how low the birds will be flying day to day.  This IS NOT a typical Canada goose hunt where the birds will come in and land if they are not shot at.  On a typical day you can plan to go through at least a box of shells and a group of four hunters can plan to take an average of 15 birds per day.  There are of course the exceptions when the weather is right where you can take a full limit of 20 birds per hunter but those days are not the average.  We also have days where a group may take 5 - 7 birds but that is not the average either.  If you are looking for an enjoyable hunt with a quality guide and look forward to flocks of 500-5,000 geese circling overhead as well as numerous different species of ducks and geese in full plumage dive bombing overhead than you will have a blast on your hunt with us.

Meet Your Guide:
Snow Goose Hunting Outfitter- Jason Lesmeister
Outfitter and head guide Jason Lesmiester has been an avid hunter for over 20 years and a licensed outfitter for over 10 years.  Jason is a member of the Alaska Professional Guides Association (AHPA), a lifetime member of the NRA and SCI as well as the North American Hunting Club and North American Fishing Club.  Jason grew up in the Twin Cities of Minnesota and grew up hunting both waterfowl and big game across the country.  In addition to guiding spring snow goose hunters, Jason is also an Alaskan big game hunting outfitter.  Jason offers Alaskan brown bear hunts, moose hunts and caribou hunts during the rest of the year.  Anybody who has hunted Alaska knows what dedication and hard work it takes to run a drop camp in the middle of nowhere. There are numerous preparations and weeks of scouting that is necessary to be safe and successful in such harsh conditions.  Jason carries this strong work ethic into his spring snow goose hunts and there is not a detail that is overlooked during your hunt.  Jason also realizes how important it is to continue to scout during the spring season and makes sure that you will be on the “X” during your hunt.  Although there is never any guarantees when it comes to spring snow goose hunting, Jason and his crew will do everything they can to make your hunt a fun and enjoyable experience!

Location:

Note: We do not recommend purchasing a license until 1 week prior to your hunt as there are no guarantees until that time which state we will be set-up in.  We do this to ensure that we have the ability to move with the migration and to ensure that we can put you on birds! We will notify you one week prior to your hunt as to where you will meet.  Please contact outfitter Jason Lesmeister for more details.

Missouri Snow Goose Hunting:

We will most likely be starting up our snow goose hunting operation in early February near the Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge in northwest Missouri.  As the hunting pressure continues to build around the area, the birds continue to push over to the areas we hunt.  We may stay in this area for up to 3 weeks or if the birds continue to push northwest, we will move with the migration into southwestern Iowa and Nebraska.

Iowa Snow Goose Hunting

We have found that since the birds are getting so pressured in some of the more popular areas of Missouri, they find a little peace and quite here in southern Iowa and are easier to hunt.  Although we do not post the names of the towns we stay in on our website, we will have reservations made for you and at the time of booking and will let you know approximately where you will be meeting us at that time.  We will also be giving you updates as to how the spring hunting is going as your trip dates get closer, with weekly spring snow goose hunting reports.

Nebraska Snow Goose Hunting

As the snow geese migrate through Missouri and Iowa, we will stay ahead of the peak of the migration as our scouts will be letting us know when the birds start hitting Nebraska’s Rainwater Basin.  We will then set up camp in Nebraska and will stay in the area as long as the birds do.  Usually we will be in and around the Rainwater Basin for up to 3-4 weeks.  Although as every spring is different, we will continue to follow the birds north or south as need be.  Again, at booking we will give you a more descriptive idea of where you will be meeting us and we will have reservations made for you in one of the areas local motels.  As always you will be kept informed with weekly reports of our success.

South Dakota Snow Goose Hunting

When the birds hit South Dakota, they generally start moving through as quickly as possible trying to hit the Canadian border.  Thus it takes a lot of scouting to keep up with the spring snow goose migration once they hit South Dakota.  We may set up in Mitchell for a week or two and move north through the Lake Thompson area and up into the Huron and Redfield area before we finish up the spring hunt near the Sand Lake Refuge in Aberdeen.  As always each spring is very different and can affect the migration so be assured that your accommodations will be taken care of but we will not be able to let your group know where to meet us until the week of the hunt.  We will be contacting you throughout the spring with our weekly hunting reports to keep you informed up until the date you join us.

Lodging and Meals:

At the time of booking, we will work with you on the dates of your hunt, which will most likely determine the state you will be hunting in.  We will also work with you on any special needs that you or your group may have.  Your lodging and meals Are Not Included in the hunt package but we will have reservations made for your entire group, prior to your hunt.  You will most likely be staying in a local motel very close to the area we will be hunting and reservations will be made for you prior to the hunt.  We will then be contacting your hunting party weekly as the spring season progresses to let you know how the hunting success has been.  Before you leave for your hunt we will give you exact directions as to where you will be staying.  If you have dogs, we will do our best to make sure to get reservations for you in a motel that allows pets.  There will also be a local restaurant and grocery store with in close proximately to your motel for your meals.

Spring Snow Goose Hunting Packages:

We start up our hunts on February 10th each spring, most likely in northwestern Missouri or southwestern, Iowa depending on the birds.  We will work our way up through Nebraska towards the end of the month and into South Dakota in mid March, through the end of April.  New for 2008 we will now be offering a daily hunt package of $200.00 per hunter, per day.  We can also guarantee that there will be no more than 8 hunters in the field at one time and if you have a group of 6 or more, or if you pay for 6 hunters, you are GUARANTEED to have the field to yourself!  With our new hunt package, we encourage families to bring their kids and non-hunters are also invited to enjoy the migration and hunt as well.  Each hunt includes an Experienced Guide and a Quality Decoy set-up in a Pre-Scouted field but Meals and Lodging are not included.  We will do our best to customize any specific hunt that you group desires.  If you have a specific set of dates in mind or a specific area or state that you would like to hunt please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.  As of May 10, 2007 We are taking reservations for The 2008 Spring Snow Goose Hunting Season so please call us ASAP to get your hunt booked early!
