After years of training my own retrievers and experiencing the joy and satisfaction of watching my dog work and hunt is what made me decide to spend my time training dogs.

Through experience I have learned that each dog learns differently. Patience, persistence and devotion to training dogs all play a major part of helping your dog reach it’s potential. Our dogs are competitors and avid hunters but have the ability to flip the switch at the end of the day to be that companion you want them to be.

At Northern Plains Retrievers we use proven training methods to build a foundation that allows each dog to learn and develop at it's own pace. We have developed our retriever training program by adopting the best concepts from the top trainers across the country. Our system, combined with an ability to "read" each dog, has produced great hunting dogs and dogs that have achieved the highest titles in the hunt test game. Our program features a strong obedience component, an extensive force-fetch program and uses an abundance of live birds and marks. This system is designed to bring out your dog's natural hunting and retrieving instincts and will allow you the control needed for you and your dog to work as a team.

Welcome to Granite Ledge Kennels where our goal is to provide you with a Labrador Retriever that is a pleasure to have in the field and in your home. We are a small breeding kennel that specializes in quality hunting dogs as well as family dogs. For over 10 years Chris has been a professional full time retriever trainer. We have 75 acres of training grounds on site with ponds to meet your dogs training needs. No matter what your goals are with your dog we know that our training program will go above and beyond your expectations! We are located in Milaca, Mn, just off of Hwy 169, northwest of the Twin Cities. We also offer a couple litters each year. We offer black lab, chocolate lab and yellow lab puppies. We also offer started dogs from time to time.
