For the month of October we joined Mike Franklin of Pacific Wings Prairie Outfitters on a “World Class” Saskatchewan field waterfowl hunt. During the trip we took every species of goose in North America as well as some mallards and pintails. The real treat was hunting over a spread of over 650 full body decoys and having an opportunity to take a limit of mature Specklebelly geese. After the hunt we named Mike Franklin the HuntTheNorth.com 2010 Outfitter Of The year. You won’t want to miss this one!

| About The Outfitter: Mike began waterfowling as a young man in the area around Spokane, Washington. He began hunting ducks with friends and relatives, but in the 1970's the goose bug bit him hard. In order to learn the ways and language of Canadian geese, Mike spent weeks camped out on the Columbia River and practiced his goose calling until he could hold an intelligent conversation with the local goose population. |
| Mike began guiding in the middle 70's and founded Pacific Wings in 1986. Mike has been hunting in Saskatchewan for the over 17 years, for one week a year. He acquired his outfitter's license in 2004 and has been growing every season with custom decoys and custom blinds. He now spends about 45 days a year outfitting in Canada for all species of geese as well as several species of puddle ducks in the area grain fields. |

Our Philosophy: Pacific Wings strives to provide excellent quality goose hunting and duck hunting experiences from the time you arrive. We know that to truly enjoy your hunt, a comfortable night's rest is essential, therefore we have put great effort into offering an on-site comfortable lodge for our hunters to stay in.. The guides at Pacific Wings have many years of experience calling and hunting geese. Their expertise in decoy placement, "reading" the birds and calling guarantees that most hunters will enjoy a lot of fast action and close shooting. While no hunt is guaranteed, a large majority of our hunters do take their full limit of geese. The goal at Pacific Wings is to take away all of the challenges that the hunter has to deal with, so they can focus on enjoying the overall experience without any of the hassles associated with the traditional guided hunting experience. |

Fully Guided Saskatchewan Waterfowl Hunts
On your hunt you can expect the following-

A Typical Day:
Upon arrival outfitter Mike Franklin will meet you at the lodge where he will assist you in getting settled in. At dinner that night Mike will have your pre-purchased hunting license ready for you to sign. After a delicious home cooked meal, feel free to relax with a cocktail in front of the big screen. But don’t stay up too late as the 4:00 am wake up call will come sooner than you think.
After a quick breakfast you will be off to a fresh field that was full of ducks and geese from the night before. Whether you are targeting Canada geese, Snow geese or Specks, know that you will be hunting over a fully customized spread of full body decoys, out of very comfortable blinds. It is not uncommon for our snow goose hunters to be overlooking a sea of up to 650 full body decoys all morning, while flock after flock of many species of geese continue to bombard the spread. In 2010 our hunters averaged 77 birds per hunt. Note: you will be expected to help with the set up and pick-up of the spread but there will be plenty of help and it is a smooth process- well worth the effort. After the hunt it is back to the lodge for a hot lunch! For those who are scheduled for an afternoon duck hunt, don’t nap too long. Our evening duck hunts are just as fast and furious as the morning goose hunts. After the evening hunt expect to return to a spectacular supper waiting on the table when you walk through the door. And don’t worry about the birds we will take care of that for you. Most hunters try to make it until 10:00 pm before hitting the sack but it’s not too easy. | |

Our Washington Canada goose hunts can be excellent, fast-paced and of course, lots of fun. Southeastern Washington receives some of the largest flights of ducks and geese in the Northwest. Our guided goose hunting adventures mean you likely will experience these large flocks at very close range. A quality hunt is our always our goal. You will hunt from comfortable duck blinds and goose pits, over hand-crafted taxidermy decoys and the newest custom-made decoys. Pacific Wings has exclusive hunting rights on lands stretching from northern Oregon, north into Washington 100 miles. Our large bodies of water enable us to have our own rotating reserves. The guided goose hunting and duck hunting experiences at Pacific Wings are second to none. | |

Lodging And Meals:
In Saskatchewan we offer a beautiful on-site lodge which sleeps up to 9 hunters. This is a fully modernized farm house with room to stretch out. It comes fully equipped with satellite tv and kitchen facilities. We also have an on-site chef that will have a hot meal waiting for you at the end of each hunt. We also have a full time bird cleaner who will take care of your game after the hunt. You will have a legally cleaned, frozen bird ready for travel upon departure. These amenities are all included in your hunt package.
In Washington, we offer several quality motel options along with local restaurants for your stay. Depending on what package you book, lodging and meals may or may not be included in your hunt. Please email us for more details on these amenities. |

Saskatchewan Hunt Packages:
3 Day Hunt- 3 hunt package: $1,450 per person
3 Day Hunt- 5 hunt Package: $1,900 per person
5 Day Hunt- 9 hunt package: $2,750 per person
Prices include home-cooked meals, lodging, licenses, bird cleaning.
Hunts include geese in the morning and ducks, upland or cranes in the afternoon
Washington Hunt Packages:
Daily Duck or Goose Hunt- 1 daily hunt- $275.00 per person
Daily Waterfowl Combo Hunt- 2 hunts per day- $500.00 per person
3 Day No Hassle Hunting Package - goose & duck hunts- $1,350.00 per person
Package includes guide, license, waterfowl stamps, bird processing and lodging in a fine Tri-Cities hotel. One hunt per day. |
