Wyoming Sage Grouse Hunts
Welcome to Wyoming the Sage Grouse Capitol of the world! You will find yourself on the vast open sage brush prairies of Wyoming, hunting over pointing dogs in pursuit of Sage Grouse. Sage Grouse inhabit huge vast open areas, and often leave the non-guided upland hunter with tired legs and no birds for their efforts. We take the guess work out of Sage Grouse hunting with intense scouting and the best in private leases. Scouting is the key in the fall as hen & juvenile Sage Grouse tend to be in completely different locations than that of the “Big Bomber” male Sage Grouse. In 2009 we had a 90% success rate for “Big Bombers” which make an excellent mount. Our featured guided hunts can be combined in multiple days with several other upland bird species including Blue Grouse, Sharp Tail Grouse and Hungarian Partridge. | |

A Typical Day:
Sage Grouse are best hunted in the early morning before the heat of the day sets in. A continental breakfast at the lodge and a short commute with your guide and you’ll find yourself on the open sage brush grassland of Wyoming. Typical coveys of Sage grouse range in number between 10-20 birds. We have honey holes where several coveys join together to make one big covey and they can number over 100 birds! Sage Grouse tend to hold tight giving you time to walk up on a great pointing dog and harvest the wild Sage Grouse. Typically limits of birds are made before noon, but if your looking for a “Big Bomber” male be prepared to walk and typically hunt for the majority of the day. At days end kick back and enjoy a great lodge meal while overlooking the North Platte River right out the front windows of the lodge. | |

ALSO OFFERING: Waterfowl Hunts / Fly Fishing
At one of our lodge locations we offer exceptional combination hunts for waterfowl & upland birds. Our waterfowl hunts take place in heated pit blinds close to local refuges. You can start your day shooting ducks and geese in a pit blind, and finish the day on a mesa hunting Huns and sharp tails, or hit the corn fields for pheasants.
At our other lodge location we offer Cast & Blast trips along the famous North Platte River. This day starts with a float trip down the North Platte River for trout, at various locations along the float you will get out of the boat and meet a separate guide with dogs and guns and take off hunting Huns and pheasants. Cast and Blast trips are action packed and filled with variety. | |

Lodging And Meals:
We have two separate lodge locations, Grey Reef Lodge & High Plains Lodge. The Grey Reef Lodge is located 15 miles west of Casper, WY. It is situated on the banks, overlooking the North Platte River. High Plains Lodge is located in southeastern Wyoming- 5 miles east of Torrington, WY. Both lodge facilities comfortably sleep 8 guests with room for up to 12.
We offer two lodging packages, as well as day trips. One lodge package is all inclusive with a cook and the works. The other lodge package is set up on a self serve basis where you bring your own food and make use of the lodge and kitchen facilities. Email Jason for more lodge details. |

Outfitter Jason Ostrander is a native to Wyoming. He first began upland bird hunting in Wyoming with his father at 8 years old. “I remember my father cutting the shotgun stock down on a table saw so it would fit me! My father’s passion to share his hunting and fishing experiences is what propelled me into guiding.” Jason carries that same passion into his work, making sure the last Wyoming upland bird hunt of the year is as good as the first. |

Our focus is variety. We offer multiple wild & native upland bird species in a single day's Wyoming upland hunt. We can also spread out over multiple days of upland hunting. With lodges in two separate locations, our aim is to guide you into multiple species of wild upland birds in Wyoming while providing the comforts of home. We also have premier guided pheasant hunts.
