At Northwoods Guide Service we offer a world-class wing shooting experience specializing in Minnesota Ruffed Grouse hunting and Woodcock hunting. Minnesota boasts some of the highest populations of Ruffed Grouse in the lower 48. We also have solid resident populations of Woodcock and get absolutely phenomenal fall flights as these birds migrate from southern Canada down the Mississippi Flyway. Our Lodge is located in remote and rural northern Minnesota right in the heart of nearly endless Grouse and Woodcock habitat. This allows us to hunt different covers and find fresh birds every day. We hunt behind and train, Wirehaired Pointing Griffons. These dogs are bird machines and have spent their entire careers guiding grouse and woodcock hunts. A typical day at Northwoods Guide Service begins around sunrise. After fueling up for the day we will head out and begin chasing the King of all gamebirds, the Ruffed Grouse. Our hunts will typically take place within 30 minutes of the lodge with some being as close as 5 minutes away. We typically hunt anywhere from 45-90 minutes at each location before loading up and heading to the next cover. After a morning of Minnesota grouse hunting, we can either enjoy a tailgate lunch or return to the lodge for a midday break. From there we will continue hunting through the afternoon until sunset or our legs are worn out! After the hunt we will return to the Lodge for dinner and an evening of relaxing and reminiscing on the days hunt.

During early September, Northwoods Guide Service offers first class Black Bear hunts over bait. We offer Black Bear hunts in lottery unit 46 and over-the-counter hunts in the No Quota area. Both hunts offer clients a great opportunity at a beautiful Minnesota Black Bear. We strive to provide our hunters with a memorable, enjoyable, and successful Bear hunting experience. All hunts take place over bait with comfortable tree stands or ground blinds placed 15-30 yards from our bait sites. Bear hunts are any weapon hunts, archery, rifle, shotgun, or pistol depending on your preference. Our hunts are limited to 4-6 hunters per week ensuring that we can provide a great experience for our clients. Bear hunt options include: Fully guided with lodging, fully guided without lodging, and we also offer semi-guided hunts for our unit 46 lottery areas.
